Confronting fear(s). A personal journey
Fear: from using it as a driving force to embracing it as a catalyst for growth and resilience.
Today, someone asked me what I fear the most.
And it got me thinking. Up until today, I never pinpointed a specific fear that I have.
I’ve shaped my life in various forms — as a matter of fact, since my younger days, my fears were sort of fuel for stronger and bigger goals.
After graduating from engineering, knowing right from the 1st year of studying that I would never practice it, I used my fear of failure to hustle more and become a T-shaped thinker.
Much like a job: I was a rookie in my own life.
I had to quickly learn & accept that I was “not trained to do this.” And work harder to achieve my dream job. To be good. To have my work acknowledged. And to deliver outstanding results.
Do not get me wrong; I am not sorry I didn’t drop out to focus on the creative side of my brain. The technical university gave me a pragmatic & multidisciplinary thinking framework. And while I was fully aware that I would not practice, I still did my best: I got a scholarship, attended science competitions, etc. You know, the above-average type of student who is neither sparkling…
